Arkansas Legacy Over-Under Shotgun
Celebrated for its natural beauty, conservative values, and strong cultural ties, Arkansas remains one of the most beautiful and inviting areas in which to live, work, and play.
The first European to arrive in Arkansas was Spanish explorer Hernando de Soto in 1541. Eventually posts were established and more Europeans migrated to Arkansas. Many farmed the land while others continued to trap and trade furs.
Part of the land acquired in the Louisiana Purchase, Arkansas became a separate territory in 1819 and achieved statehood in 1836. A slave state, Arkansas became the ninth state to secede from the union and join the Confederate States of America. Several battles were fought, including the Battle of Pea Ridge, the Battle of Helena, and the Red River Campaign. The Civil War ended with the defeat of the Confederacy in 1865, Arkansas was admitted back into the Union in 1868, but much of the state had been damaged by the war.
Enriched with prominent people, places, and landmarks, Arkansas is revered for its distinguished pride, indomitable character, and pioneering spirit. Whether your family settled here in previous centuries, or you’ve sunk your roots into this very special place, Arkansas is a region with a proud heritage and lasting legacy!
